Halo G6 and Triton Review
Halo was a brand of e-cigarette that my friend kept mentioning to me but because I hadn’t heard of them before, I disregarded the name completely. Upon further investigation, it would appear I had made a mistake. After rethinking my decision, I ordered two starter kits… Let’s see what I thought in the Halo review!
00000So… I ordered two starter kits from Halo e-cigarettes. I went with one tank-style and one regular two-piece design. I felt it was only fair to give one of each a bash, especially as my buddy had told me all his pleasant experiences with both.
Apparently, he uses the smaller G6 e-cigarette when he is out and about and looking for something a little bit more discreet, and the larger tank-style Triton tank when he is at home for a more satisfying and relaxing experience. I thought it made sense to follow the same rules, right?
Halo G6 Starter Kit
I got mine in Jet Black because it looked really stylish and I will admit, I love something that looks good. For just $44.99 I got the following goodies:
- Two batteries – Available in both standard and extra-capacity, and in manual and automatic varieties.
- Five cartridges – Available in a range of flavors and strengths.
- Wall charger
- USB charger
- Carry Case
I’ll get to the heart of the matter – this is a kit that packs some punch for a two piece design. The battery life was outstanding and in fact, I feel the need to shout about this some more.
The extra-capacity batteries that measure in at a little under 8cm actually lasted me for the entire day. 7am I woke up, I started work at 9am, stole as many puffs as I could throughout the day until 5pm with a half-hour break of almost continual puffing, and until about 5:20pm when I got home and needed to swap batteries. For a two-piece design, that was pretty impressive even by my standards! It must be that Enhanced Battery Life System they talk about on the website working its magic. Well done – it appears to be working!
The battery itself has a really nice finish – it’s very solidly built
Throat hit and vapor were just as impressive as the Triton Tank Halo offers I found, and for a small two-piece number, that’s not bad going at all. One of the batteries had a manual button while the other was automatic, and I actually quite liked the button-placement on the manually operated one. With both the cartridge and the empty tanks, the feel was one of great quality. It feels and works like a really good e-cigarette. It has Smooth Flowing Heated Vapor technology which works towards that really smooth smoke, and the Anti-Burn Filler Technology in the cartridges means that you won’t have to suffer with that disgusting burnt out taste you sometimes get. All in all, I was very impressed.
One thing I will say is that that the tank-style cartridges that you can buy for the G6 have a top that just pulls off. This is not secure enough and has popped open once or twice in the bottom of my laptop bag. I probably shouldn’t throw it in the bottom of my bag but it’s real life, and I imagine I’m not the only one that does that…
There are a couple of other things I feel I should point out here. For a start, there are so many different options available here, you’ll be spoilt for choice. You have a number of colors to start with:
- Electric Lime
- Emerald Green
- Demon Red
- Deep Purple
- Princess Pink
- Midnight Blue
- Titanium
- Classic White
- Jet Black
I got the Jet Black one and I’ve had nothing but compliments. It really is a well-built, great-looking e-cigarette!
Halo Triton Tank System
This is the most advanced e-cigarette that Halo has to offer, and has gone into the realms of personal vaporizer. For $64.99, you’re getting one hell of a kit. Plus it boasts three main features:
- Robust Anti-Leak Tank System
- Variable Voltage Battery Option
- Super Long Lasting Batteries
We’ll start with the first thing on the list – the Robust Anti-Leak Tank System.
It works, which is always a good sign. I have had no leakages with the tank at all. There has been no flooding, no leaking, no nothing. It’s actually a very well built tank, just like the G6 e-cigarette.
It’s easy to unscrew, although sometimes the center piece unscrewed with it which got a tad annoying. My fingers kept getting covered in e-liquid when I was screwing it back together again and once that stuff is on your skin, it stinks for ages regardless of how many times you wash your hands.
I’ve been using the same tank for about four weeks so far without any remote signs of burn-out. I’ve pretty much used the same one continuously since I opened the starter kit and to last that long is pretty impressive. I’ve had some brands where I’ve gone through a cartomizer every week and a half before!
Moving onto the battery and to be more precise, the Variable Voltage Battery, and this is another great feature for the Halo Triton Tank System. For a start, variable voltage is a great idea. I never like a strong e-cigarette first thing in the morning so I would turn the voltage down. I preferred a stronger smoke after dinner so I turned it up. I want something kinda halfway when watching dinner with the wife before bed so I turn it to the midway voltage. It’s as simple as that. It might sound just like a novelty but once you’ve used it for a few days, you’ll wonder how you ever lived life without it.
The variable voltage is only available in the 900mah variety, but you can change it from 3.3 volts right up to 4.8 volts, giving you plenty of opportunity to mix things up.
The ‘regular’ batteries are just as cool, of course, and come in the same funky colors as the G6 e-cig. Here you have four options when it comes to capacity starting at 400mah (making the kit cheaper), 650mah, 900mah, and right the way up to 1300mah. That’s some pretty impressive power right there. With the original starter kit, you can only choose between 400mah and 650mah, but it won’t break the bank to add a couple more batteries to your order. The smallest one is $15.99, and the biggest 1300mah is just under $20.
That’s one thing I did very much like about Halo Cigs – their prices are pretty low for such a decent e-cigarette!
Going back to the kit and you get two batteries, two tanks, a cone to make it changeable with the G6 cartridges (yes – you read that right! You can also use the G6 tanks too!), a USB charger and a wall charger.
Now for the interesting stuff – how long does the battery last. Well, I’ve been using the 650mah batteries for a while now and I can say with certainty that these will last you all day. I start using the freshly charged battery when I wake up in the morning and I charge it up when I get home from work in the evening. On the days I find myself using the e-cig a bit more than usual (those particularly stressful days), I may need to switch batteries before I leave work but mostly, they do the job I want them to. The 650mah battery is said to last for up to 780 puffs on the website. There are around 20-25 puffs per regular cigarette so essentially, this one battery should last you the same amount of time as around 30 cigarettes. It hasn’t lasted me quite as long as that, but I do tend to chain-puff on my ecig at various points throughout the day.
The batteries are also good for around 300 charges which means, if you charge it up every day, it should last for around 9-10 months before it will need to be replaced. I’ve been using mine for a couple of months now and there is still no sign of it dying at any point soon.
Finally! A personal vaporizer that you can actually rely on!
In Conclusion…
There were a lot of things I really liked about Halo Cigs, and only a handful of things I didn’t. The unscrewing of the center-piece of the Triton Tank was a bit annoying, and the G6 center-piece needed to be just a tad longer. Overall however, it’s reliable, great to smoke, and doesn’t break the bank!
Good job Halo! I’d rate them with 5 stars out of 5! A very reliable and usable personal vaporizer and e-cigarettes! And one that I very much enjoyed smoking.
